Dunedin Ice Skating Club Ice Arena Rules

  • All skaters are to act in a safe and courteous manner towards other skaters
  • No deliberate skating towards or into another skater to cause intimidation
  • No forms of bullying
  • A skater in a coached lesson and playing their program music has right of way on the ice but must be wearing an arm band which is supplied by the club
  • A skater not in a coached lesson and playing their program music has the next right of way on the ice and also must be wearing an arm band
  • A skater may play their music once (including in a coached lesson) and then wait in queue if they wish to play it again
  • Give way to skaters who are committed to be in a spin as it is hard to pull out of a spin in time for an on-coming skater
  • Give way to skaters who are already committed in the take off for a jump as it hard to avoid another skater when rotating in the air
  • If you intend to stand around and have a chat, please remove yourself from the ice
  • Parents are encouraged not to stand rink side distracting their child as this may cause the skater to lose concentration and have a collusion
  • Parents are not to act verbally abusive and cause skaters to become uncomfortable
  • Skaters are to pay before they skate and sign in a log book before getting on the ice
  • No props are to be used on the ice
  • No glass or food on the ice

For any concerns please contact the committee
